Blender Geometry Nodes Cytoskeleton
Eukaryotic (and some bacterial) cells have an internal 'skeleton' made up of dynamic protein filaments known as the cytoskeleton. With this Blender asset file you can easily create fairly accurate models of these filaments.
Current filaments
- Microtubules (focus of the library)
- Bacterial Microtubules (BTub)
- PhuZ filaments (model currently not verified for complete accuracy w.r.t all helical parameters)
For more details about the implementation, consult my blog post on the models.
If you are interested in creating renders of molecular biology, consider joining the community on Discord, where you can find a lot more information, ask questions, and see what other scientists and artists are trying. If you are unsure, check out the discord introduction video by CGFigures on youtube.
